Project Brief Design and build a contemporary family house utilising new construction technologies on a brown field site.
Project Scope Design, Planning Approval, Specification, Sourcing, Construction and Project Management.
Project Solution The detached dwelling has been constructed on a piled raft foundation with an Austrian sourced, cross laminated timber (CLT) structure.
The house is split level and is arranged over three floors and features sedum grass roof areas, a standing seam zinc mono-pitch roof and is clad in high performance render and cedar panels. The windows and doors were sourced from Denmark and are aluminium sashes on timber casements.
With maximum air-tightness and super insulation the house is extremely energy efficient and will benefit future occupants with significantly reduced running costs.
Awards Winner - St Albans Civic Society Award for 2012.
"…A truly delightful house! Sited in back-land, its concept is nevertheless both contemporary yet sympathetic and near perfect in scale."
